Helping Daddy

Eric's really been working hard on our guest bathroom getting it ready to paint and put the trim back up. We've set a deadline for ourselves to have the whole thing completed by the end of Feb. before Eric leaves to go on a trip. Don't worry they'll be finished pictures posted when it happens.
Carsen was being helpful during all the sanding and puttying. He dragged his stool into the bathroom along w/ the tools that came w/ Handy Manny and got right to work.

He started w/ the soap dispenser.
Then hammering the sink.

Back to the soap.

Eating like a Big Boy

Ever since we moved to our new house last summer, we meant to transition Carsen to his booster chair. The only problem was the small table we purchased second hand to fit in our breakfast area only came w/ two chairs. Because of this he continued to sit in his high chair. We recently used our booster seat when friends w/ kids visited and since then Carsen has been interested in sitting in it at the table. Since I'm usually at class 2-3 nights a week it works out well for Carsen to take my seat. When I am home to eat w/ my boys, I sit in a folding chair.

Feeding himself breakfast.
He won't let us remove the tray and put his plate and cup on the table.

Snow Days!

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to keep this blog up to date. That hasn't been going very well, but I'm going to make another effort.

Carsen and I have spent several days last week and this one snuggling at home while the snow lays on the ground outside. For the most part we were stuck at home, but also didn't want to venture outside and test the roads.

I Stuck!

This is a new phrase Carsen has learned over the past few weeks. I was in the bathroom when I heard him yelling "I stuck! I stuck!" When I came back into the living room I found him in this position.

Cheesing for the camera!

Rockin' in the New Year

For the past 6 years we've traded hosting New Years w/ our friends Calvin and Gina. This year they were ambitious enough to venture down our way w/ 2 kids in tow. The evening was a success and the kids outnumbered the adults by one. The score being: Adults 8 Kids: 9. Needless to say, we had a good time and are still scrubbing dishes working to see our counter tops again.

Also to celebrate the arrival of the new year, Carsen got a haircut. This was his fourth time getting a haircut and if anyone knows the story, he wasn't a fan the last time. I know my friend probably wasn't excited to see us, but I'm glad to say he was a champ the entire time. Which was a good thing b/c it had been 2 months since the last trim and it was just a trim meaning he was SHAGGY.

Carsen talking to Baby Emmitt.

Calvin showing Carsen how to use the Wii controller (he wanted to push buttons more than play so it was quickly taken away).

This picture is from Christmas and posted in order to show the length of his hair. What a mess!

So handsome w/ our big boy haircut.

Carsen the Cowboy

Toy Story has been a must see at our house lately. Carsen's favorite character is Buzz. I think it's b/c he can say that easier than Woody, but who knows? Anyway, we were at Walmart last week and he saw a picture of Buzz and started saying his name. We go back to the toy department and found a plush Buzz that talked. He smiled but wouldn't hold it so I put it back on the shelf (no way I'm going to spend $10 when he didn't like it that much). On the shelf across the aisle was a stack of cowboy hats. Carsen went crazy, "Hat! Hat!" I put it on his head and the boy was in love. He wore it all day and of course demanded to ride the horse right inside the front door. I think we're going to have to start going in the other doors at Walmart from now on to avoid a massive fit throwing.

The first time ever he's stacked anything instead of destroyed it.

Eric made Carsen's name out of twistable sticks the restaurant gave w/ their children's menu instead of crayons. Of course, the sticks went right into Carsen's mouth. When he found out he couldn't eat them, all interest was lost.

Smiling our SUPER cheesy smile and giving what looks like an "OK" sign. Notice the bandana around his neck. We were in an emergency lunch situation and tied a cloth napkin around his neck. What a Super Mom!

Tulsa Aquarium

We'd planned to take Carsen to the Aquarium all summer. We were finally able to squeeze in a weekend in October. He loved seeing all the fish and especially the tide pools. Unfortunately Eric and I weren't able to see much of the fish. We were too busy chasing Carsen all over the place.
